Quality Solar
Screen Co. - Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why should I get
Solar Screens instead of window film or awnings?
According to studies, Solar Screens offer three times the heat
blockage compared to
window films. Solar Screens do this by blocking the heat before it
ever reaches the window.
2. Will Solar Screens block my view?
Solar Screens are great for allowing outward daytime visibility,
while at the same time
blocking outsiders from looking in. Suntex 80 allows the best
outward visibility.
3. Will Solar Screens darken the rooms?
Suntex 80 Solar Screens still allow plenty of light to come in. The
light that passes through
is softer on your eyes and does an excellent job reducing that awful
glare on your television
set. Our clients have also told us their plants do well with Suntex
80 Solar Screen material.
Suntex 90 may noticeably darken rooms, but if you have a glare
problem Suntex 90 may be the fix.
4. How much will Solar Screens save on my electric bill?
Studies show savings up to 30-35% on the "cooling portion" of the
electric bill (results will
vary). Many times the screens will pay for themselves in as little
as 2-3 years. They
reduced our own electric bill about $60 in the hot months.
5. Are your Assembled Solar Screens any different than parts
hardware stores carry?
Yes, in many ways. For one thing, sizes are very limited in those
"Do it Yourself Kits". The
aluminum frame is also much thinner, the corners are exposed plastic
vs. our mitered metal
corners, and we carry only the best Phifer Suntex solar screen
material. You also need the
right tools to create a screen that will last. Our screens are
professionally factory
manufactured to a nice fit and a quality finished product.
7. How is the quality of your Solar Screens Kits?
All of our Solar Screen Kits include the Heavy Duty One-Inch frame.
Using the heavier frame helps do-it-yourselfers avoid the common
problem of bowing the frame while rolling in the solar screen
material. Our solar screen kits include same tension springs, lift
tabs, centerbar and centerbar clips that we use in our factory made
screens. The only difference is that we include 'External' corners
to make it easier to measure and assemble for the typical homeowner.
8. Can I still open
my windows?
Yes, properly installed Solar Screens do not interfere with the
window operation and there is little restriction in airflow as well.
You can still enjoy those cool breezy days.
9. Do Solar Screens reduce fading?
Absolutely, Solar Screens will drastically reduce the damaging UV
rays from entering your
home and ruining your fabrics, carpet and wood floors. Quality Solar
Screen Company
carries the patented Patented Suntex that blocks up to a whopping
90% of those harmful UV rays.
10. How fast can I get your Factory Made Solar Screens?
Manufacturing time for Custom Made Solar Screens is normally about 7-14
business days in the busy summer time. Sometimes as little as 5-7 business days in our off
season months. Shipping is via ground freight and takes an
additional 1-5 days depending on your location. |
