Measuring Modern Aluminum Track Windows for Solar Screens

We look for 3 characteristics of modern aluminum windows to mount solar screens:

    1. Top Channel for screen to slide up into. (Use Tension or Leaf Springs on top of screen)

    2. Side Tracks that solar screen fits between.

    3. Bottom Lip to help hold the solar screen in place.

If all the above characteristics are present, we can move on to measuring for Solar Screens.

Measuring Solar Screen "Width"

1. In the above example, measuring between the Side Tracks is Actual 34 3/8 Inches.

2. Subtract 1/8 Inch and make the Solar Screen Width 34 1/4 inches.

Measuring Solar Screen "Height"

1. Make sure the measuring tape is fully up into the Top Channel.

2. Measure to the Top of the Bottom Lip, Actual is 58 3/4 inches in the above example.

3. Subtract 1/16 and make the Solar Screen Height 58 11/16 inches.

• Measure all windows in multiple locations checking for irregularities such as bowed up in the middle of the bottom or uneven sides that get narrower at the bottom or top.
• Don't forget to measure for a Crossbar Position.
• Common hardware for Full Size Solar Screens are Tension Springs or Leaf Springs on Top with Lift Tabs on Bottom.  Attachment hardware can be found on our Hardware Options page.
