Types of Window Screen Attachment Hardware Explained Below

Tension Springs

  • Tension Springs are commonly used on the top of Full Size Window Solar Screens.
  • The Tension Spring creates downward pressure to help hold the screen in place.
  • Tension Springs are installed in pairs about 3-4 inches from each corner.
  • Tension springs will retract fully into the frame if necessary during installation.
  • They are also used on the Side of some screens such as 'slider' type windows.

Leaf Springs

  • Leaf Springs are commonly used on the top of Full Size Window Solar Screens.
  • The Leaf Spring creates downward pressure to help hold the screen in place.
  • Leaf Springs are installed in pairs about 3-4 inches from each corner.
  • Leaf springs may require a little space allowance in the window track.
  • They are also used on the Side of some screens such as 'slider' type windows.

Bale Clips

Bale Clips

  • Bale Clips are common on many newer Aluminum windows.
  • Bale Clips are found on Window Half-Screens at the Top of the screen.
  • The Bale Clips clip behind the window center bar.
  • Bale Clips are installed in pairs about 3-4 inches from the corners.

EZ Brick Grips NEW ITEM

  • For use on many Brick Homes with recessed windows
  • Measuring and Installing Solar Screens So Simple Anyone Can Do It
  • Easy To Measure - Exact Sizing Not as Critical as Other Methods
  • No Drilling or Screws Required - EZ Brick Grips hold to the Side of Bricks

Turn Clips

  • Turn Clips are useful for many applications when a 'screen track' is not built into the window.
  • Above shows the Turn Clip screwed into the aluminum window frame with self-tapping screws.
  • Turn Clips could also be screwed into a wood surface with your own wood screws.

Wire Loops

(Wood Hardware)

  • This 'Combination' of hardware is called "Wood Hardware" as it is normally used on older style wooden single hung or double hung windows.
  • Two Wire Loops are attached to the Bottom of the Screen about 3-4 inches from each corner.
  • The Jiffy Hangers attach to the side of the outside window frames very close to the top. This allows the screen frame to slide up into the Jiffy Hangers, then the bottom of the screen is pulled in toward the window frame.
  • The Round Head Screws are screwed into the bottom window sill adjacent to the Wire Loop locations.
  • After pulling the bottom of the window in all of the way, the Wire Loops are slipped over the top of the Round Head Screws.

Spring Plungers

  • Spring Plungers are found on some window screens around the nation.
  • There are typically either 2 or 4 Spring Plungers on each screen.
  • They can be located on Top, Bottom or Sides at various locations.
  • Some Spring Plungers fit into round holes making accurate measurements critical.
  • Some Spring Plungers simply fit into the track running the full length of the window frame and accurate placement may NOT be critical.
  • When ordering, you must specify the exact location of the Spring Plungers as measured from the corners. (EXAMPLE: 2 plungers on top 3 1/4 inches from corners).
